How to Make a Worry Doll

Worry dolls are used in Central America by children. According to legend, children tell one worry to each doll when they go to bed at night, then place the doll under their pillow. By morning the dolls have taken the worries away.

Supplies needed:

Toothpicks/wooden cholthespins
Several colors of embroidery floss or yarn
Craft glue
Small wads of paper

Directions:

  1. 1. Wind the floss or yarn around toothpicks. Wind each arm and leg first. A touch of extra tacky glue holds the ends of the floss or yarn in place.

  2. A small wad of paper forms the base of the head, cover with floss or yarn.

  3. Attach arms anf legs to the body of the doll with some more twists of your floss or yarn.

Make an entire set each with different costumes. Attach a small dol to the top of a package, to a barrette, or to a safety pin. The perfect accent for your hair coat or sweater. Also makes a perfect gift for family and friends.
